Bowlers raise £1,800 for president’s charities

At the Annual General Meeting of the Warwickshire Women’s Bowling Association President Carol Norton (Stoke) handed over the chain of office to her successor, Maureen Edwards (Rugby Thornfield) and wished her well knowing that the County will continue to be in good hands.

Carol was delighted to hand over cheques to the two charities she had supported during her Presidential year – “Thanks to the generosity of Warwickshire bowlers we raised £1,800 and so I am able to give £900.00 each to Jo Payne of the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance and to Professor R. Grieve of the Arden Cancer Centre at Walsgrave Hospital.”

She went on to say “I have thoroughly enjoyed my year as President and have tried to be a good ambassador in upholding the great traditions and standards of Warwickshire. I could not have done this without the support and help of so many people. My particular thanks go to the members of my club, Stoke, and to the County Officers but most of all to the ladies of Warwickshire. It has been a wonderful experience and a season I will never forget.”

Other Officers elected at the AGM were Senior Vice-President - Christine Richards (Lillington), Junior Vice-President – Di Medhurst (Stoke); Treasurer - Janet Scott, Competition Secretary - Dianne Green (both Sherwood Park); Secretary - Ann Doherty, Match Secretary - Jenny Corn (both Lillington) and Assistant Secretary – Elaine Taylor (Stoke).

On accepting the Chain of Office Maureen thanked everyone for their confidence in allowing her to hold office as President for a second year and looked forward to another successful year for Warwickshire.
