Victory over world medallist puts her in unbeatable position in Premier division
Last weekend saw Kimberley Woods racing in the National Premier Division Race 9 at Nottingham White Water Centre. She was in winning form again, coming first in C1 and second in K1 classes.
In the C1 Kimberley was again in front of Mallory Franklin, the world championship silver medallist, after the first runs by only 0.5.seconds. On the second runs Mallory knocked six seconds off her time but again Kimberley put on a stunning performance beating Mallory’s time by 3.5 seconds taking first place. This is Kimberley’s eighth win in succession and places her in an unbeatable first place in the 2014 national C1W standings.
In K1W Class Kimberley was in second place, four seconds behind Fiona Pennie, the 2014 world championship silver medallist. On the second runs Fiona improved her times slightly but Kimberley found something extra and came second only 0.15 seconds behind some two seconds in front of the third place competitor.
Kimberley is looking forward to next week’s final Premier race and The British Open at Lee Valley Olympic course in London.
