Rugby Canoe Club have been presented with the Sport England Clubmark award.
They received it at Draycote Water last Monday, from the new Mayor of Rugby, Kathryn Lawrence, and Ben Spears representing Sport England.
This is the culmination of many months of work by members of the club committee, particularly Alison Elliott, who took the lead in achieving the Clubmark accreditation by developing more organised systems and structures for running the club, thus helping it to run more effectively and efficiently.
A highly valued accreditation, Clubmark was introduced in 2002 by Sport England and raises the profile of the club with other bodies. It’s often a requirement for funding applications.
It has helped the canoe club in improving their organisational management and how it all runs.
As part of Clubmark, the club can receive help to develop the skills of coaches, this, in turn, leads to the club providing consistent and qualified coaching to a high standard.
Parents can be confident that appropriately qualified coaches are instructing their children.
