Good form continues with win over Marston Green
Barby 1st XI v Marston Green
Barby first XI continued their good form with a home win against Marston Green. Barby batted first and the mainstay of the Barby innings was Loz Mead’s 42. Barby however only reached 157 all out with Ali 4-21 and Vickerstaff 3-48 the main wicket takers.
Barby were again indebted to Will Sinclair who took three quick wickets at the start of the Marston Green innings, the home team then turned to Rob Stipanovic who took 5-33 and Sinclair returned to take his figures to 5-42 Barby bowling Marston Green out for 113 and winning by 34 runs. This result saw Barby comfortably in mid table, but moving in the right direction
Four Oaks Saints 2nd XI v Barby 2nd XI
The second XI were away to Four Oak Saints 2nd XI and bowled first against a strong home team, Westlake 52, Longhorne 55 not out and Tarr 51 not out the main run scorers, Barby found wickets hard to come by with Tom Middleton 2-39 and Stev Stipanovic 2-80 the only wicket takers, the home side declared on 239-4.
In reply Barby’s batting continued to struggle against some tight bowling, however Charlie Seager 39 and Tom Middleton 53 helped Barby past 100, however there was no real runs from the rest of the team and Barby were bowled out for 132, Sharma, Hill and Tahir all taking 3 wickets. Barby remain rooted to the bottom of the league.
Barby 3rd XI v Badby
The Third XI were at home to Badby and completed the double over the visitors, Barby batted first with Craig Leighton 28, James Aylett-Hughes 44 and Dave Sherwood 23 all in the runs, Barby being bowled out for 175 in the last over. Lloyd Liddington 4-38 and Matthew Sumpter 3-33 the main wicket takers. In reply Barby kept the visitors batsmen tied down with good spells from Graham Lamb 3-35, Dave Sherwood 2-35 and Matthew Outhwaite 3-38 restricting Badby to 139-8 Barby winning by 36 runs. This result sees the third XI in their first league season sit comfortably in mid table.
Barby Sunday XI v Heckley
The Sunday XI took on Heckley and batting first put on 170 Dan Dury 46 not out and Tom Middleton 49 the main runs scorers, O’Hara 3-24 and Stride 2-12 keeping the score down Barby reached a below par total. In reply Heckley were never really in any trouble with C Curtis 53 and Lawrence 68 not out, the only Barby wicket taker was Matt Beagley with 1-30 the visitors reaching there target with the loss of one wicket and finishing on 173-1.
