MORE than 40 Rowland United CC vice-presidents, sponsors and past members gathered to honour the memories of former leading lights Tony Cowlishaw, Terry Branston and Harold Sellar last Sunday.
They began with an excellent luncheon prepared by Marie and Kersh Van Laar, waited on by Ben and Ellie.
Afterwards Canon Ken Baker presided over a minute’s silence for Mr Cowlishaw, who died recently. Canon Baker then dedicated two benches in memory of Mr Branston and Mr Sellar, a lifelong Rugby Hockey Club member.
The match got under way with the Branston Memorial XI batting. Chris Evans and Shaun Cowley enjoyed the friendly occasion and runs came at a healthy rate until a heavy downpour meant play had to be abandoned.
