Four Rugby Sport for the Disabled members won medals at the Rugby shoot on Sunday.
The NCF event was held in very hot and sunny conditions at the Rugby Bowmen’s picturesque ground in Dunchurch where Iris Bingham is a member.
This was Hazel Duckett and Graeme Mooney’s second outdoor shoot and Mike Sheasby’s first. They had 30 shots each at 30m and 20m. This was Iris’s best result this year and again was a National qualifying score. All RSDA members shot as assisted.
RSDA results which are out of 600 for Sporting bows and 900 for Tournament bows are:
Novice Sporting Crossbow
1st Graeme Mooney 30m – 262, 20m – 271 total 533; 2nd Mike Sheasby 30m – 258, 20m – 263 total 521; 3rd Hazel Duckett 30m – 237, 20m – 256 total 493.
1st Iris Bingham 65m – 259, 55m – 280, 45m – 284 total 823
Other gold medal winners were: Gents Tournament Graham Course 762; Senior Tournament Graeme Peatfield 609; Gents Sporting Graeme Watkins 522; Novice Sporting Keith Grant 384.
n At the National Crossbow Federation’s shoot earlier this month Iris Bingham won gold in the assisted tournament division.
The event took place in Derby and although sunny at times, the strong wind swirled constantly for the first two distances causing problems for all the arbalists and making shooting very difficult.
For the third distance the wind eased. Iris said: “I was pleased with the result especially as my score was higher than at the recent World Championships.”
The tournament division had 30 shots each at 65m, 55m and 45m and the Sporting shooters had 20 shots at 55m, 45m and 35m. Everyone had a 60cm target. This is the first competition that these distances have been shot in GB this year.
