Victory at Mallory Park and Warwick

After a brace of podiums and many top ten finishes it was Jordan Peacock who scored the first win of the season for Rugby Velo. Competing in the 2nd/3rd category race held at Mallory Park, Peacock attacked alone with 9 laps of the race still to run. As the solo break pulled away the main field of riders could not organise a chase sufficient to bring back Peacock and he was rewarded for his bravery with the taste of victory. The result now means that Peacock lies joint second in the Tuesday night league on 27 points with Iain Palmer (Twickenham CC).

The joy did not end there for the Velo as Jeremy Hicks took the victory at the Steeplechase Summer Cyclocross held at Wedgnock Rifle Range in Warwick. A fast start from Keir Lewis (Stratford CC) left Hicks on a back foot early on, however he took the lead on lap two of the race and gentle pulled away from the other riders and eased his way to victory as the chequered flag flew after an hour of hard racing through the mix of mud and grass.

Gary Hipwell managed a solid fourth place in the veteran’s category, whilst Stephen Franklin took 18th in what was his first

ever cyclocross race.
