Top three men and first lady

It was an excellent day for Rugby School at the Run for Rotary 10k around Draycote Water earlier this month.

Rugby School claimed the top three finishers for the Men and first for the Ladies out of a field of 76 runners.

Andy Siggers and Ben Sutherland ran strongly to open up a lead. Mr Siggers edged into the lead after 3km on the uphill sections, benefiting from fell running over the summer holidays, and won in 34:26. Ben still kept up a fast pace, but the last kilometre was run straight into the wind which slowed him down to finish second in 35:39, only eight seconds outside of his 10k personal best time in the Wycombe 10k in July earlier this year.

Simon Waterhouse, 14, ran superbly to finish third in 40:12. The fourth place runner drew level with Simon with less than a kilometre to go, but Simon dug deep and pulled well clear of him over the last few hundred metres.

Max Thompson also performed well, running a well paced race to finish 13th in 49:34, within his target time of 50 minutes. Rachael Siggers was on form, finishing first female in 44:27 and was the only lady to complete the course within 50 minutes.
