In her first competition, Cassandra Reed from Dunchurch was one of a squad from Corby Steel Diving Club who attended the ASA England Talent Identification Games.
This major competition was attended by some of the best young divers in the country from the biggest clubs.
At eight, Cassie was the youngest of the squad of 13 that travelled to Southend International Diving Centre for the competition which ran over the weekend and tested the children in several disciplines including trampolining, gymnastics, 1m springboard, 3m springboard and 5m platform diving.
Cassie finished a creditable 23rd in her age group and learnt a lot from her experience.
She was spotted in diving lessons six months ago and invited to join the talent development squad of the club.
She now travels to Corby three times a week to train at the East Midlands international pool.
Having had a taste for competition, she is keen to work even harder and perform even better next time. She is also a member of the synchro section of Rugby Swimming Club.
