Rugby Gaels V Sons of Erin (Northampton)

Sunday 5th June, 2pm throw in at Newbold RFC, Parkfield Road

Rugby Gaels are in action on Sunday (June 5) at Newbold RFC against Sons of Erin of Northampton. Throw-in is at 2pm. The game is the preliminary round of the Mulligan Cup. The Gaels won this competition back in 2004 and Sunday’s game is a chance for Rugby to get back to winning ways, following the disappointment of the loss to James Connolly GAA in the Championship.

Sons of Erin will provide a stern test on Sunday. The Northampton side are current league champions. They went through their campaign unbeaten and Rugby last beat them three years ago.

The Gaels, however, will look at this as an opportunity. Both defeats in the league against Sons of Erin came early on this season. The last game in Newbold was a close affair in which Rugby were left to rue missed chances.

Since then The Gaels have won four of their last five and have an added depth to their squad that will give them belief that they can overcome the Northamptonshire side and progress to the next round.
