The recently formed Bear Golf Society, based at The Bear public house in Bilton has been raising funds through organised golf days and has been able to make donations of over £400 each to Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance and Rugby Myton Hospice.

At the first Annual General Meeting Mike Perkins, Chairman of the Golf Society said: “The Society was only formed in March and this has been a wonderful effort by our members in particular Karl Fisher, who raised over £200 in sponsorship to play one event in full fancy dress.

“We have also had the support of Whitefields, Newbold Comyn, Forest of Arden, Staverton Park, Kilworth Springs and Stoneleigh Deer Park Golf Clubs all of which discounted their normal green fees and donated generous prizes.

“Mark and Becky at the Bear have also been a huge help to us and we are looking forward to another good year in 2013.”

The society is always looking for new members and anyone interested in joining can leave their details at The Bear.
