Rugby Golf Club Ladies’ Presentation Evening

The evening of Thursday, 13th November heralded the Ladies Annual Dinner and Presentation at Rugby Golf Club to celebrate the end of the golfing year in terms of competitions and, with 51 ladies attending, to applaud those who had achieved in those competitions. Lady Captain, Sheila Wragg, presented the trophies the most prestigious being the 36-hole Championship Cup presented to rising star Abi Mortimer Lane.

Abi, following in the footsteps of Lauren Taylor an honorary member and now playing on the European Tour, joined the junior ranks and on establishing a handicap joined the ladies competitions on a Wednesday, school permitting. She became a fully-fledged member of the Ladies Scratch team, played for County and this year was honoured with the position of Warwickshire County Girls Junior Captain.

She also achieved great acclaim by winning the Warwickshire County Girls 36-hole Championship. Gaining a place at Loughborough University this September to continue her studies Abi has been selected to join their elite squad for golf. The Lady Captain commented: “We are immensely proud of Abi and her achievements. She is a very friendly young lady and a great ambassador for the club. We look forward to following her progress over the coming years.”
