President v Captain Match

Last Saturday saw the annual challenge match between the President and the Captain for the Jim Beaumont Mashie Niblick Trpohy.

The Mashie Niblick, equivalent to a modern day 7-iron, belonged to Mr JW Beaumont, Rugby Golf Club’s professional appointed in 1922.

Some 44 players gathered for the pre-match brunch before the afternoon start. Whilst the sky was laden with dark clouds the rain held off for most of the day apart from the odd shower.

A good time was had by all with the Captain’s team narrowly beating the President’s team 6 matches to 5.
