As the new golfing season starts and the new captains take over, the final event for the outgoing Lady Captain at Rugby Golf Club is the pleasant task of handing over the money which has been collected over the year for her charity. Sue Davis chose the Cardiac Rehabilitation Unit at Rugby St Cross Hospital for her main charity in 2016 and, on Wednesday nearly 40 of the lady members joined her in the clubhouse for the presentation of the cheque.

A total of £1,400 was raised for the Cardiac Rehabilitation Unit and the photograph shows Jo Holdsworth, Manager of the Unit, on the left of the picture and one of the nurses, Mary Morton, receiving the promotional cheque from Sue Davis. The Cardiac Rehabilitation Unit is a most worthwhile cause which relies heavily on fund-raising. Many of the club’s members or their relatives have been on the receiving end of the good work they do.

In addition to raising £1,400 for the charity, £1,000 was raised for the club for a new sound system, making a fantastic total of £2,400 raised in total for the year. The charity gets its money over the year through raffles and donations and, for a relatively small ladies section by comparison with the men, is a great achievement. Sue thanked the ladies for their generosity over the year.
