Lauren makes it a hat-trick of Dutch Open wins
Rugby golfer Lauren Taylor has won the Dutch Junior Open girls’ title for the third year in a row, giving her another Ladies European Tour start next year.
Lauren, 18, had four sub-par rounds of 71, 69, 71 and 69 for an eight-under-par total of 280 over the par-72 circuit at Golf Club Toxandria in the Netherlands.
The 2011 BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year, an England International, said: “I think everything about my game was in good shape. It was a tight course and you had to hit the fairways. I hit a lot of greens too and putted really well, holing some key putts in the final round when the pressure was on. It’s always nice to have a bogey-free round too!”
Lauren’s win earns her a wild card place in the Deloitte Ladies’ Open in Holland, where she has made the cut on her previous appearances and has been leading amateur.
Lauren won the British women’s championship in 2011, at the age of 16, and is currently a student at Baylor University in Texas, where she ended her first year as Conference champion and Freshman of the Year.
