Victory in first final appearance in 13 years

Rugby Golf Club and Stratford’s Ingon Manor Golf Club reached the Avon League Trophy Final - the first time in 13 years for Rugby. The final itself was played at a neutral course, Stonebridge Golf Club, on Sunday.

It was a very close fought match with three of the games reaching the 18th hole and the other three matches concluding on the 16th hole.

Champions Rugby went on to win 4½ points to 1½ points.

The Avon League was formed in 1994 and currently 11 clubs in the Warwickshire region are members playing match play during the summer.

The Avon League Trophy knockout competition is played during the winter months as a greensome/foursome matchplay format, with six pairs from each team competing.
