GENEROUS golfers have raised a fantastic £4,500 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The event, which included an auction, at Rugby Golf Club saw 76 golfers compete on the Clifton Road course and 89 sit down to the meal at night.

Karen Shortt from the charity also went along to lend her support and speak to the competitors.

Garry Lane and his younger brother Tom Hall had organised the day in memory of their mother Annette Lane, who died three and a half years ago. This was their second golf day, with this year’s total beating last year’s by more than £1,000.

They are very grateful to all those who helped to make it such a success, especially Adrian Evans, Paul Martin, Camillus McCarron, Leah Doupe, Tracey Doupe, Greta Brown and Yvonne James.
