Rugby Triathlon Club ladies showed good form at two early June triathlon races.

At the Coventry Triathlon Claire James didn’t let the awful Jubilee weekend weather put her off and came in third lady overall with a time for this sprint race of 1:20:49. The results were:

Claire James 1:20:49 - 2nd in age group (40-44) 3rd lady overall

Bev Masterman 1:27:18 - 3rd in age group (30-34) 8th lady overall

Chris Parsons 1:12:32 - 4th in age group (45-49) 23rd man overall

The following weekend (June 10) saw Bev Masterman in top form again. She secured first place in her age group at the Corby Triathlon (swim 350m, bike 16k, run 3.2k) with a time of 1:01:38.

n Club members Ross Wearing and Mike Donnelly literally put themselves through Hell on June 2 when they took part in the Hellrider Duathlon, a race that is described as ‘an off-road duathlon of devilish proportions!’ Coming 16th and 19th respectively out of 70 solo entrants the two had to run and cycle continuously for eight hours.

Ross was very pleased to have completed Challenge 5 in his year of extreme challenges to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

He has already completed several gruelling events including an indoor rowing marathon and an off-road running marathon. His Just Giving page is www.justgiving.com/ross-wearing

Pete Timmins and Mike McGillion again fought hard against the effects of very cold water in Round 2 of the Xterra Mass Start Swim Series held at Box End, Bedfordshire on June 16th.

Pete Timmins 5km 1:33:03 - 4th in age group (Vet 50)

Mike McGillion 5km 1:42:17 -5th in age group (Vet 40)

n Lastly, the Dambuster Triathlon at Rutland Water took place at the weekend and three members took part in this massive event which has a maximum of 1,000 competitors. The results for this Olympic triathlon were:
