Families in Rugby are being encouraged to make the most of those New Year’s resolutions with the Change Makers family lifestyle programme.
The nine-week courses are available free to Rugby families with children aged between 4 and 13 years old, who would like support in making healthy lifestyle changes.
Each course provides healthy eating advice and active games for the whole family to enjoy, plus free food tasters and giveaways to help participants stick to their new healthy habits.
Nutritional advisor, Helen Childs, and sports coach, Neil Huddlestone, provide a range of fun, varied activities for each group.
Celebrating a successful start to the Change Makers programme, 100% of participants in 2011 increased their physical activity by the end of their nine-week course.
Covering topics like healthy lunchboxes, shopping on a budget, and much more, the Change Makers experts are hoping Rugby families will have a happier, healthier 2012 as well.
Shell Wordley, a parent who attended the course, said: “I would highly recommend the Change Makers programme to all families.
“The sessions are very relaxed and informative, the children really enjoy the weekly challenges and as a parent I have learnt to make small changes that will really make a difference.
“I am now more adventurous with my children’s food, their lunchboxes are much healthier, more balanced, and I have reduced the portions given to my children.”
n The programme is run by Rugby Borough Council and funded by NHS Warwickshire.
