Boys third in national finals
Bilton Grange boys come third in National Schools’ Hockey finals in Cannock
Tournament brings great season for the boys to a close
After travelling up to Cannock to take part in the National finals, the Bilton Grange U13 hockey team defeated Gresham’s in the 3rd/4th place play-off, having earlier finished second in their group. Bilton Grange beat the group winners and eventual champions, Whitgift, earlier in the day but a 2-1 defeat to Millfield cost them that coveted place in the final.
The team, (Ollie Park, George Barber, Mathew Nobes, Marcus Tarrant, Noah Martle, Angus Robinson, Alex Jackson, Theo Davenport and Harry Mitchell) all made great individual contributions and should be proud of their remarkable record this season; second place in the IAPS National Prep Schools tournament and third in the National Schools’ finals.
Paul Nicholson, Assistant Head, U13 Coach (and himself an England hockey player) said: “The boys have had another great hockey season, and done extremely well with two top-three placings on the national stage.
“They have worked hard as a team and, in reaching the national finals, demonstrated great skill and determination. They should all be extremely proud of their standing as one of the best teams in the country.”
