Talented hockey player Paul Nicholson has beaten off stiff competition to be selected for the England over 50s squad.

He will represent his country at two forthcoming tournaments - the Home Internationals at Wakefield at the end of this month and a European tournament in Ireland in August.

Paul now plays his club hockey for Rugby & East Warwickshire HC and was spotted by the England selectors when he played for the successful Midlands side at the Divisional tournament in May.

The Assistant Head at Bilton Grange, who coaches the school 1st XI hockey team, said: “To be selected to play for your country is a great honour and I am sure it will be an amazing experience.

“The children at school have shown great interest and I shall look forward to telling them all about it.”
