Rugby & East Warwickshire Hockey Club
REWHC Men’s 1st XI 8
Hampton HC 1
Rugby started off the second half of their campaign with an impressive win, and an even more impressive six-goal haul for Szymon Oszyjczyk. Goals also from Chris Graham and Henry Sewell leave Rugby at fifth in the league with a game in hand.

REWHC Men’s 2nd XI 0
Cannock HC 2
The 2s had a busy weekend against two of the top teams in English Hockey. Although they lost on both days, they can hold their heads high knowing they gave it their all. Only conceding five goals against these strong sides proves the progression the team has made, but the there is still work to do.
REWHC Men’s 3rd XI 2
Cannock HC 3
The 3s improved on their 6-1 loss in the first half of the season to really give the students a game. The fact that Rugby could, and perhaps should have, taken some points from the game, shows how far they have come in recent years, competing against the best. Oscar Kay got Rugby’s first after a fine break from Harry Brignal. Kristian Browne continued his good form to draw the scores level, but the students managed to get the winner from a breakaway goal. Rugby had further chances to get the points but should feel proud of how they performed.
REWHC Men’s 4th XI 4
Leek HC 0
The 4ths hosted Leek 6s in a game where, bearing in mind the league table, the 4ths were expected to win. Rugby started very well, passing the ball crisply and creating numerous openings. A goal soon came, as Stuart Morgan scored from the top of the circle to make it 1-0 before Sam Williams soon made it 2-0 from a short corner. Rugby controlled the game for the majority of the half, with Leek posing a small threat on the break. Into the second half, and Rugby continued to dictate the game but despite the great build up play, couldn’t put the ball in the net. However, Dave Renard made it 3-0, putting the game to bed, by beating the keeper at the near post. Luke Armstrong then added a fourth a few minutes before the end. A great performance by Rugby and a deserved victory. MoM: Tom Brindley DoD: Chris Harrison.
REWHC Men’s 5th XI 1
Rugby conceded in the first five minutes after a shot hit Craig Hughes on the line and Leek converted the subsequent flick. Rugby managed to go in level at half time after a great finish from Tom Robson at the back post. Leek managed to find the winner after a scrappy short corner meant the ball found its way in to the back of the net. Mom Thomas Webb, Dod Craig Hughes.
