To mark the start of the 2011 season on the newly refurbished athletics track at the Ken Marriott Leisure Centre, Rugby & Northampton AC are hosting an official opening ceremony including a series of events.

This is the first of 12 community based events to be held by the club as they ‘Run Towards 2012’.

The club challenges all local athletes, all other sports clubs, schools and the local community to pull together a team and take part in a fun filled afternoon.

It includes the R&N Mile, team based rlay challenges in the track and field for all ages and field event workshops.

The programme and ideas for this event have been developed by young athletes from the club.

n The event will be opened by former world 5,000m record holder David Moorcroft MBE at 1pm and attended by club athletes past and present, members of Rugby Borough Council and the Rugby Group Benevolent Fund.

n All former members of the athletics club are invited and would be very welcome.

The club are trying to contact as many of the Rugby & District record holders as possible.

To see if you are still a record holder check the website and please contact us!
