Juniors honour Ramshaw

RUGBY GOLF CLUB 

n On Friday evening the juniors staged a surprise 9 hole Betterball Stableford in honour of Danny Ramshaw, who is retiring as junior coach/organiser at Rugby Golf Club. Alex Cluett, Junior Captain, when presenting a cheque for £250 from junior members, spoke in glowing terms of the time and energy Danny had contributed to the junior section over many years.

n The Ladies Section played their last major competition of the season last Wednesday with the Medal Cup. Eligibility for entry is for winners and runners-up in any EWGA Medals during the preceding year.

A separate Club Medal is played on the same day for non-qualifiers to the Medal Cup. The winner of the Medal Cup for 2012 was Di Reid who finished with a net 71 with Sue Jones in 2nd place with a net 73. The Club Medal was also won by Di Reid on count back with Julie Broom in 2nd place.

n On Monday the ladies took part in the Four Way Match, an annual competition between Rugby, Lutterworth, Kilworth Springs and Delapre Golf Clubs. Started in 1997, this friendly event is played on alternate courses with the ladies playing individual stableford.

The best aggregate score wins and this year the home team of Lutterworth won with a total of 223 points with Rugby and Delapre in joint second place with 204 points followed by Kilworth Springs with 200 points.

n Also on Monday the final of the Mixed Knockout was played at Rugby between Caroline and Clive Brown and Hilary and John Bradley. The match was won by the Browns on the 17th hole which makes them the 2012 winners.

n A Fourball Betterball competition was held on Sunday morning, 30th September. Matt Bell & Ben Broadhurst won with 46 points, 2nd were Paul Godding and Stephen Ainley with 44 points, and 3rd Simon Daysh and David Izzard also with 44 points but with a worse back nine.

n The Seniors played a Extra Stableford on Monday with seventeen members taking part. Malcolm Jessop won with 38 points, closely followed by was Danny Ramshaw in 2nd place scoring 37 points.
