Twelve anglers from Braunston Thursday Club visited the much improved and re-stocked Bishops Bowl Fishery near Bishops Itchington last week to fish the Walworth Lake.

Although the usual stockie carp did not feed as usual there were plenty of bites from the resident bream and tench.

Top weight on the day went to Mick Wilson who did find the carp with a catch of 36lb 8oz taken on paste, second was Brian Hodgetts with a largely skimmer net of 24lb 8oz on pellet and third was Brian Hodgetts senior with a similar net including some fine tench to weigh 16lb 14oz.

A reminder that the latest Saturday afternoon match is at The Banks this coming Saturday.

There are spaces available so please ring John Davies on (01788) 561628 to book on.

n Some 11 anglers from Spring Street AC also fished Bishop’s Bowl last weekend but this time on the White Bishop Lake.

In glorious sunny conditions the fishing was very good and yet again in first spot was Paul Knapman with a really good weight of 85lb 4oz all carp and one at least 8lb and a good double size bream on method and pellet.

Second was ‘Mr Consistent’ Brian Hodgetts with another good weight of 50lb 6oz, a good mix of carp and silvers on pellet.

Third was Kev Folwell with 45lb 4oz, again a good mix of carp and silvers on pellet and caster.

Fourth was Mick Chambers with 39lb 8oz, a good mix of carp and silvers on pellet and maggot.

With good back up weights a total of 460 lb being caught.

Next match Sunday 14th October now at Peatling Marsh (E) Lake. Please note this is a change of venue to the fixture sheet.

There are plenty of pegs available.

Call Jim as usual on (01788) 570228 by Thursday please.

n The Rugby Disabled and Pensioners AC were at the lovely Misterton Hall last Tuesday for their latest contest and the lake fished hard as was anticipated and the winner Graham Treherne only need 14lb 3oz to take the top spot.

His net of fantails all fell to the meat.

Runner-up Bob Smith had tench and fantails on the worm for a total of 10lb 14oz which was enough to push Chris Maspers into third place with 7lb 12oz of tench and rach taken on maggot.

Completing the frame was Roy Morris with 7lb 2oz of fantails and roach also taken on maggot.

n Before I leave the match reports I must congratulate Team Warwickshire on their superb win in the County Championships.

The team made up of local ace Kevin Folwell and ably assisted by Jon Arthur and Pete Caton scored a superb 27 points.

Well done to you all.

n That’s it for another week - I hope you are all finding time to get some trips in before the weather really does take a turn for the worse - get out there and make the most of any autumn feeding spells as the fish stock up on food for the winter.

n Before I sign off I would just like to congratulate Matty Richards on his awesome run of fish from his Northamptonshire syndicate where he has recently had two PB’s and lake records - firstly with a common of 38lb 6oz and then last week a bigger one at 39lb 14oz - well done mate you are on fire at the moment!

I hope it continues for you and just shows what dedication, good angling and a good bait can do.

Tight Lines
