Best yet this season for Cossar
Magnificent Mark Cossar and his passenger Carl Blyth won the big Worcester Winner grasstrack meeting at Alcester, finishing in first place in all of their races and the grand final.
Only once, in his opening heat was Cossar behind the leader, when briefly headed by eventual runners-up Rod Winterburn and Liam Brown, but a clever overtaking manoeuvre by Rugby’s reigning British Masters Champion soon saw him heading for the chequered flag.
The 25-year-old from Rugby revealed that some intense fine-tuning one of his engines had at last given him the extra drive and handling he so meticulously demands from his bikes.
“This was my best performance of 2011 by a long stretch”, enthused Cossar afterwards. “It was a convincing win against some very good race crews – and it’s a relief to get the set-up right at last because until today I’d not been 100% happy with it all season”.
With some of the season’s main events just ahead, Cossar hitting top form couldn’t be happening at a better time. On Sunday he races in the Kings of Speed event at Collier Street in Kent, followed by a trip to La Réole in France on Sunday July 28th. His bid to win the British Masters three times in a row is also in sight – on Sunday August 14th.
