Rugby’s double British sidecar champion Mark Cossar is one of the driving forces behind the first ever grasstrack meeting at Airfield Business Park near Market Harborough on Sunday, June 12.

The new Heart of England Motorcycle Club (HEMCC) has put together a programme that not only includes Cossar in 1,000cc sidecar action, but will also feature 500cc, 350cc and 250cc solos, 500cc sidecars, Pre-75 and youth racing.

Profits will go to local charity Adam’s Smile, set-up following the death of Adam Mugridge to build a safe cycling path between Lubenham and Harborough.

Cossar said: “The venue is only 25 miles from my house, which is about as close as I usually get to racing near Rugby, so I’m hoping plenty of people from the town will make the trip because there’s going be some great action.”

Gates open at 11am with racing underway at 12.30pm. Admission is £10 for adults, £6 for concessions, and free for Under 16s. The track is just off the Harborough Road, about a mile north of Market Harborough. (Sat Nav LE16 7QX).

n Mark Cossar and Carl Blyth won the South West Grasstrack event at Collompton in Devon on Bank Holiday Monday. Mark’s brother Tom Cossar partnered Long Lawford’s Will Felton to finish in eighth place.
