MOTORSPORT: Cossar debut at BikeFest on Sunday

Rugby sidecar racer also at Brandon on June 3

Four-times British Masters Sidecar Grasstrack Champion Mark Cossar will be making a special appearance at this Sunday’s (May 22) Bikefest.

The popular Rugby town centre event, which runs from 10am until 4pm, will give race fans a chance to not only meet and greet their local champion, but also see the 1,000cc mean machine that he’ll be riding at Brandon on Friday, June 3 for the big forthcoming sidecar speedway event.

“Because I’m usually racing on Sundays I’ve not been to get to Rugby Bikefest before,” said Cossar. “So I’m really pleased to have a rare day off, although I’ll still be surrounded by bikes!”

He added: “This is a great showcase for Rugby. I think it’s excellent for our town that the Council, Rugby First and local businesses can work together with those run motor cycle clubs to put Bikefest together.”

Cossar also welcomed the news that at Brandon on Friday, June 3, possibly the last ever sidecar meeting at Coventry Speedway – admission prices will be only £10 for adults and free for under 16s.
