Crowd of 55,000 for Bank Holiday racing

Having had another five- week break since Thruxton, Rugby’s Keith Jaggard and fellow Ducati Tri Options Cup competitors headed for Lincolnshire’s sweeping but technical Cadwell Park circuit, which includes the infamous mountain where riders can get both wheels off the ground, writes Colin Hill.

Struggling with a new rear tyre for qualifying, he had to settle for 28th on the grid for the first ten-lap race of the weekend.

Keith gave it everything he had and even though he managed to knock four seconds of his fastest lap time could only manage to move up one spot in the final result.

Keith and his Total PlantSolutions Ducati team made a couple of changes to the set up in preparation for Monday afternoon’s race.

Track conditions were nearly perfect after several hours of sunshine and with the sun had come a huge crowd of over 55,000 people .

Keith again set off in pursuit of the rider ahead of him and again, despite going quicker every lap, he was only able to make up one place to cross the line in 26th.

After the race Keith said:“I rode as hard as I could today, not one mistake and got faster every lap, so I’m a bit dismayed. However, I loved every minute of it and I’m heading home in one piece and onto the next race.”

The next round will be at Cheshire’s Oulton Park on September 9-11.
