Grasstrack racing in Rugby this Sunday – for the first time in over 30 years!
This Sunday (June 17th) sees Rugby’s first grasstrack meeting for over 30 years as bikes and sidecars from 250cc to 1,000 cc take to a brand new circuit on Lawford Heath Lane (CV23 9EU).
Gates open at 11am for what promises to be a truly action-packed day of motor sport, with Rugby’s very own Mark Cossar (twice British Masters sidecar champion) headlining a top quality field from all over the UK.
Cossar has been working with the Heart of England Motorcycle Club (HEMCC) to bring the event to Rugby after a successful race meeting in Market Harborough last year.
“It’s fantastic to have such a big grasstrack event in Rugby and we are very grateful to Jonathan James for lending us his 40-acre field”, said Cossar. “We have prepared a very exciting race track and hope to get a big turn out so that we can make this an annual event”.
Cossar is keen to attract new young fans to grasstrack, and with this in mind, Under-16’s are admitted free of charge on Sunday, whilst the ticket price for adults is a very reasonable £10 and just £6 for concessions.
The programme not only includes Cossar in 1,000cc sidecar action, but will also feature 500cc, 350cc and 250cc solos, 500cc sidecars, Pre-75 and youth racing. Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance will benefit from the event.
