College students celebrate Warwickshire selection

Princethorpe College Warwickshire Netballers: Lucy Gribben, Maddie Glasspool, Emily Nicholls, Emelia Tubb and Anneliesa Douglas

Five Princethorpe College netballers have gained selection into their age group Warwickshire squad.

U14 players Lucy Gribben and Anneliesa Douglas, both Year 7, and Year 8 players Maddie Glasspool and Emelia Tubb were delighted to have received invitational letters after having taken part in four separate selection days. For Tubb this will be her second year playing at County level. The Goal Attack, who also trains and plays with Leamington Ladies, has consistently proven throughout last season how hard she can work under pressure.

Out of a pool of 200 girls from 20 schools across the county the Princethorpe contingent will join either the Development or Progression teams playing against other counties across the country.

U16 Wing-Attack Emily Nicholls was also given the green card, especially sweet news considering that she trailed unsuccessfully last year.

Head of Girls’ Games Debs Brookes was singing the girls’ praises as news reached the College that all five had made the mark:

“These players have made exceptional progress,” she said. “Special congratulations has to go to both Lucy and Anneliesa who, despite being a year below age group, have impressed the selectors sufficiently for them to have been invited to represent their county. It will be an exciting season next academic year, for sure.”
