Two great wins for the girls

LMR Rugby junior netball

The under 14 team had their toughest match yet against Harbury A on December 2.

The first quarter was fairly even with LMR shooting steadily, but Harbury pulled away in the second quarter with superb shooting giving LMR’s defence a real run for their money.

Bernie Pienaar and Cerys Jones worked hard to stop the ball from getting into the circle but Harbury were too strong. The final score of 39-16 didn’t reflect how well LMR played, however. Player of the match went to Lauren Hall.

The under 14 game this week saw them back to their usual form. LMR played new team Highway and some good shooting from Lauren Hall and Ella Ball meant a solid lead from very early on.

Lucy Bostock and Annie Sheen attacked really well to ensure LMR kept possession.

The defence were on fire this week – Bernie Pienaar and Cerys Jones working tirelessly to keep the ball out Highway’s circle, with Highway not scoring any goals in the last half.

Georgia Stanley was outstanding as wing defence, turning over lots of balls to ensure a great win for LMR of 27-5. Player of the match was Lucy Bostock.

The under 13 team had a tough match against Copeswood.

The first quarter was very even, with LMR working hard to score goals. Some great shooting from Emma Quinlivan and Reanne Popham, with lovely feeding into the circle from Georgie Whitehead and Kaitlin Mackintosh saw LMR just pull ahead by the third quarter.

Millie Boon played a great centre as ever, with good support from Lydia Reed and Lily Woodcock in defence.

Player of the match went to Hannah Teasdale who intercepted many balls from Copeswood, working tirelessly to ensure all loose balls were picked up, helping LMR to a great win.

Final score was 19-15 to LMR.
