Swebbelli Racing Explorer Scout Unit are pleased to have attracted a new sponsor for the forthcoming season.

Schwalbe will be supplying its Durano bicycle tyres for the 2012 3DDC British Pedal Car Championship - so they can start each race with a new set.

Last year the racing team of Rugby Explorer Scouts achieved their highest overall race finish – 2nd place at the Solihull Sprints – together with two further podium finishes which led to third place overall in the championship.

This is the highest ever result achieved by an explorer scout based pedal car team in open competition.

The team are currently working on upgrading bodywork and revising the cockpit design for the new season and are also well advanced in constructing two new chassis, one for the new PC3 team in partnership with 1st Dunchurch Scouts.

Team manager, Jacob Spencer, said: “It is going to be hard for the team to improve on their 2011 results, especially with Rugby Velo, Treads CC, Apollo, Atom and BAR Racing all in the hunt.

“But Swebbelli are putting everything into their 2012 campaign and are working towards a full shake down of all the cars in mid-February.

“Swebbelli has run on a shoe-string for the past few seasons but in 2012 we will, for the first time, actually be able to fit new tyres at the start of each race weekend rather than run with old ones and simply have to hope they last!”
