Runners of Rugby dust off your trainers and don your lycra for the sixth annual Rugby Ready Steady Run being held this year on Sunday May 18.
This popular 5K event is the brainchild of local running coaches Ruth Waugh and Kay Shaw who staged the first race back in 2009 as the target event for their beginners Ladies Running Group. It has grown in popularity year on year, attracting both fun and seasoned runners and not just the ladies.
Organised under the umbrella of Rugby & Northampton Athletic Club, the Ready Steady Fun Run 5K is a one lap course starting at 10am and finishing at the Rugby Athletics track. All finishers receive a medal and goody bag. Trophies will be awarded to the top three men, women and junior athletes (U18s).
Younger children are not left out with races on the track being organised for all U12’s and a special toddlers race. Entry for all children’s races £1 on the day.
Bring along the supporters as there’s plenty to keep them entertained with live race commentary, body fat testing, merchandise for sale at special race day prices and refreshments.
Sports massage will also be available on the day to relieve those aching muscles courtesy of sponsor Peak Performance.
All of the entry fee will go to supporting the event’s chosen local charity, Warwickshire Association for the Blind who work with local blind and partially sighted people to provide rehabilitation services and social support.
Entry fees are £8.50 before the end of April then rising to £10. Entries will be accepted on the day at a cost of £10. To enter follow the link at www.randnac.org .
