Day of fun challenges for all the family
At the end of this month The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Centre will call upon families in Rugby to spring into action and round up friends for a day full of free sports challenges.
To celebrate the centre’s first birthday and to capitalise on the London 2012 Olympic & Paralympic sporting legacy, the Better leisure centre will be holding a ‘Be Inspired’ open day on Sunday 31st August 2014. All visitors will have the opportunity to challenge themselves in a variety of sports including shooting the most hoops on court, swimming the fastest length, beating the goalie and much more from 11.00am - 3.00pm.
There will be free swimming, badminton, climbing, netball, basketball and football on the day. Rugby and Northampton Athletics Club and Rugby Borough Council’s Play Rangers will be providing a day of free sport and activities at the centre. The Play Rangers organise themed sessions and run fun games and activities for children.
The open day will be an opportunity to meet the staff and some of the Better coaches who will be on hand to put all through their paces and inspire families to take up a local sports course.
Commenting on the open day, Philip Lisseman, General Manager said, “In less than a month The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Centre will have been open for a year. So we thought having a free open day would be the best way to say thank you to all of our customers and welcome new people to the centre as well. It will be a great day for the family, to try all of these sports. We hope everyone will take the opportunity to come along and have some fun.”
