Hundreds enjoy first anniversary celebrations

Nearly 400 people turned out in force on Sunday for The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Centre’s Open day. The Be Inspired day was held to celebrate the centre’s first anniversary and to say thank you to everyone who has visited the centre, which is run by Better, the UK’s largest leisure provider.

The day was a huge success with friends, families and work mates all participating in the free sports and challenges. The Mayor, Councillor Ramesh Srivastava, visited the event and even took part in a few of the sporting challenges. ScrumKids, LMR Netball Club, Rugby and Northampton Athletic Club and the Rugby Borough Council Play Rangers were all on hand and organised well- attended taster sessions.

Philip Lisseman, General Manager said: “It was an amazing day. It was great to see so many people visit the centre. I hope everyone was able to try a new sport and realise how many opportunities there are in the community to be active. Thank you to everyone who has visited the centre in our first year and on Sunday.”
