Have a go at Ryton Pools on Wednesday
A series of summer evening events is being held through July and August across Coventry and Warwickshire parks to introduce orienteering to beginners and to test the more experienced. These events held early on Wednesday evenings are particularly suitable for families who are looking for an outdoor adventure activity. At each event there will be several courses to suit all levels of ability. Children really enjoy the challenge of finding the control points, using a map and electronic timer ... a bit like a treasure hunt!
Runners and walkers of all ages, 5 – 85 years, are welcome to experience this outdoor adventure navigation sport and help is available to all newcomers. A large scale map and electronic timers are provided.
The first one will be at Ryton Pools Country Park on Wednesday, July 22, followed by Warwick University Campus on July 29; Coundon Park, Coventry on August 12; Cawston Park, Rugby, on August 19 and Burton Dassett Hills Country Park on August 26. Start times are anytime between 6pm and 7.30pm and costs are free for juniors and £4 for adults plus timer hire of £1.
Full details about locations, courses and start times etc are on the Octavian Droobers Orienteering Club website, www.octavian-droobers.org, or contact (01926) 632189.
