Racing in the T35 100m heats on Friday evening, Rugby’s Sam Ruddock clocked 13.92s.
It was just 0.06 seconds outside qualification for Saturday’s final, but great experience for Sam in his first games.
He only began sprinting eight months ago after being spotted by a sprint coach during American football training at Loughborough University.
On Wednesday evening Sam will be back in the London 2012 stadium for the 200m heats.
Rugby also has two sports stars working for Channel 4 at the Paralympics, with Olympic 400m bronze medallist Katharine Merry commentating on the athletics and double Olympic silver medallist Neil Adams has been commentating on the judo.
