Big game next Saturday against Windsor Ladies

The Lionesses welcomed Medway Ladies to the Webb Ellis ground last Sunday for the semi-final of the RFU Junior Plate. With an increased following of loyal supporters the Webb Ellis fortress looked set for another good battle on the pitch between two teams hunting for a final spot.

The Lionesses have had a tough season in the NC Midlands 1 league, playing hard and developing well over the latter half of the season but not able to correct the early losses received, coupled with an intense Cup and then Plate schedule has seen the Ladies face games weekly over the last six weeks, testing their fitness and physical resolve - and boy have they proven what they can do!

With great support on the sidelines from the home crowds the Lionesses have seen recent victories against Cannock Ladies (24-14), Coalville Ladies (17-5) and last weekend a commanding performance to beat Medway Ladies 20-10 to see them through to the RFU Junior Plate Final against Windsor Ladies.

The final will take place at Lichfield Rugby Club on Saturday (April 23) kicking off at 1.15pm. It will be a great day of rugby with all the senior and junior finals being played that day, and with their current form the Lionesses are ‘roaring’ at the chance to play their rugby and show what more they have to give.

Coach Roger Weddell said he is so proud of what the ladies have achieved and the great numbers he has at training and for match days - and for their support in the challenges that gives him in match day squad selection.

The team also thank all the amazing support from the sidelines and the growing numbers of Lionesses followers, which really help spur the ladies on in their games.
