Courses for children and adults

Draycote Water Sailing Club is running five-day sailing courses for youngsters throughout August.

They will suit all levels of experience from beginner to advanced, open to 8 to 14s. Sailors will be learning in a selection of club boats which have been designed specifically for young people and include Picos, Teras and Fevas.

The courses take youngsters from beginner level Stage 1 to advanced Stage 4 and are endorsed by the RYA, the Royal Yachting Association, which is the sport’s governing body.

Learners are divided into groups according to their previous experience and quickly build on their skills in a safe and structured environment.

“This is the perfect age to start sailing and beginners can get to grips with a sport which can provide fun and enjoyment for the rest of their lives,” said Water Manager, Dave Rowe.

Draycote Water also runs adult training courses throughout the summer. “Sailing is a great sport for families to enjoy together, whether just leisure sailing or to take part in the club racing,” said Rowe.

The cost of the Youth Courses is £270 for five days which includes hire of wetsuits and buoyancy aids. Dates and booking forms are on the club website http://www.draycotewater.co.uk/learn-to-sail/juniors/. Alternatively, contact Dave Rowe on 01788 814418 or email training@draycotewater.co.uk.
