English Schools Table Tennis Association Team Event

The U19 and U16 Lawrence Sheriff School teams both took another successful step towards the schools final last weekend.

Having already won the county event last month both teams won their Zone Finals at Cheltenham against winners from several other counties.

n The U19 team of Matthew Outhwaite, Jesse Kendrick-Hill, Jack Randle and Ben Meakin beat Chesham Grammer School 7-1 in the final with Ben unlucky to lose his match 12-10, 12-10, 12-10.

They beat Wood Green to zero in the semis and their were similar one-sided matches in the group stage: 7 -1 against Sir Christopher Hatton and 8-0 against King Alfred’s from Oxford.

n The U16 team of Liam Victoros, Anshul Satsangi, Joe Sheen and Billy Kyle had relinquished Matthew and Jesse to the U19s cause.

In winning the U16 final they arguably achieved even more with victories over Northampton Boys School, Gloucester Crypt, Dr Challenors from Amersham and Holt Lozells.

n Matthew, Jack, Liam and Joe deserve special mention for going the entire day without losing any of their matches.

All the boys are members of Rugby Table Tennis Club.
