Harris regains place in the SGP Series
Chris Harris will once again battling it out with the best riders in the world after regaining his place in the 2014 SGP series.
The Team Great Britain skipper gets his chance due to the late withdrawal of Polish legend Tomasz Gollob.
Harris finished fifth in the GP challenge at Poole in August from which three riders go straight into the competition. The meeting winner Niels Kristian Iversen was already in the competition due to a top three finish in 2013 so another Bees asset, Martin Smolinski was given a full time place.
Harris now gets his chance to return to the competition after a year’s absence and will take the No. 15 race jacket.
This could be the lift Harris needs after a poor 2013 season by his standards. He will need good equipment which should reflect on his performances for Bees and prove the promotions efforts to bring him back to Brandon.
Christmas Cracker. The field for this meeting has now been confirmed.
Unfortunately Ryan Fisher has had to withdraw due to a booking in the US which also gives him the opportunity to visit his family. In his place the 17-year-old Finnish prospect Nike Lunna has been booked in his place.
The meeting is run in over a fifteen-heat formula, culminating in a Grand Final.
There has also been a change to the support races. It was planned to run the Midland Development League KO Cup final against Stoke in a one-off match. However Stoke have been informed that the match cannot take place outside of the regular season. Instead King’s Lynn Lightning will be sending a team to compete against the Coventry Mercia Vikings for the Christmas Cup, thus retaining the overall 21 race formula for the meeting.
The full line-up is; Josh Auty, Henning Bager, Kevin Doolan, Oliver Greenwood, David Howe, Richard Lawson, Nike Lunna, Tom Perry, Stuart Robson, Lewis Rose, James Sarjeant and Aaron Summers.
The meeting takes place on Sunday December 29th at midday. Gates open at 10.30am and admission is £15 for all adults with all under 16s free. 2014 Coventry Speedway season tickets are valid if paid for by Christmas.
