News from Coventry Bees

Coventry fans have a bumper weekend opening to the 2014 season

The Buildbase Bees are set to stage the Elite League Rider’s Championship on Sunday March 23rd with many top names set to compete.

Before that Coventry’s National League team, The Storm, are set to take on Cradley in the first leg of the Travel Plus trophy on Friday, March 21.

The Elite League Rider’s Championship has traditionally been an end of season event but there have been requests from the riders to bring it forward before the start of the major European Leagues and the Grand Prix series so that they can give it more commitment. Plans are under discussion to give the event an exciting new format.

Bees open their Elite League campaign with visits to Swindon on April 3rd and Birmingham on the 9th.

The first home match is against King’s Lynn on Friday 11th. An exciting prospect over Easter is the two fixtures against local rivals Leicester who have moved up into the Elite League this season. The teams meet at Brandon on Good Friday April 18th with the reverse fixture at Leicester the following night.

The Christmas Cracker meeting, which was due to be held at Brandon on December 29th but was postponed due to weather conditions, will now be staged at Peterborough on Sunday, February 2nd with a midday start.

Coventry promoter Mick Horton is involved in the new Peterborough management consortium and is pleased to announce that 2014 Coventry season tickets WILL still be valid for the restaging.
