News from Coventry Bees and Storm

Coventry skipper Chris Harris is making preparations for his testimonial meeting which will recognise his services to British Speedway.

‘Bombers Bing Bang’ takes place at Brandon on Sunday, March 29 (2pm start) featuring a major individual event over 24 heats and a host of other attractions and entertainment.

Harris joined Bees in 2004 and has spent all but two seasons with them. The forthcoming campaign will be his sixth as club captain.

The testimonial is set to include several star names, many of whom are team mates past and present.

Already named are Hans Andersen, Danny King and Jason Garrity from the present team along with Kyle Howarth, Edward Kennett, Simon Stead and Kenneth Bjerre.

The main meeting, (parade 2pm, first race approx 2.20pm) will be run over 20 qualifying heats, followed by D, C, B, and A finals with prizes on each and a major cash prize for the A final.

Before hand the pre-meeting entertainment will feature some of the sports rising stars from the British Youth Championship. These will take to the track at around 1.30pm.

Afterwards there will be a disco and Auction in the Understand Bar.

Details of packages available - rider mascots, VIP hospitality and rider, tyre and race sponsorships are available from www.chrisharrisracing.com.

Coventry have been awarded two BSPA events for the coming season:

The British Under-21 Final will take place at Brandon on Tuesday, April 14 and The National League Fours will be on Sunday, June 6.

The Elite League Riders Championship will take place at Leicester on Saturday, March 21.

There is some good news for Bees fans in the fact that they will have first call on both Danny King and Stuart Robson, their doubling up riders.

When a rider competes in both Elite and Premier Leagues priority in the event of a fixture clash goes to the riders parent club.

As neither King or Robson is riding for their own club this season, Bees will have first call. This saves the guest rider problem which is so annoying to fans.
