Deadline is January 9
It’s time to nominate worthy winners for Rugby’s annual sports awards.
The last 12 months have been packed with outstanding achievements and dedication - which will be celebrated at the presentation evening at the Benn Hall on March 11.
And you have until January 9 to send in your entries. 2014 marks the 20th year of the awards, which are organised by Rugby Borough Council and supported by the Rugby Advertiser and Rugby FM.
Nominations are now open, so if you know someone who spends many hours coaching or volunteering in a sports club who deserves to be recognised for the work they are doing, or a talented individual who is excelling in their sport or a team that has had a great year, then please don’t let them miss out.
There are nine categories, which recognise success on and off the field.
The Mark Gallagher Memorial Award for Coach of the Year is the perfect way of showing your coach or manager just how much they are appreciated.
Rugby’s Club of the Year 2014 should have celebrated success in sport and development initiatives.
Do you know an Unsung Hero Volunteer, whose hard work might otherwise go unrecognised? Or someome who deserves the Lifetime Achievement Award for their years of dedication?
The Lion Geoff Thompson Young Volunteer of the Year award will be presented in memory of the Rugby Rokeby Lion, while the Simon Warwood Memorial Award goes to the Young Team of the Year.
Also for under 18s, the Excellence in Sport awards for those who excel at national or international level include £100 towards equipment and training.
Finally for individual achievers we are seeking nominations for Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year for whom 2014 was one to remember.
