Celebrate the best of sport in the region

Rugby nominations are being sought for the region’s largest professional and amateur sports awards ceremony.

There will be 15 different titles handed out at this year’s Coventry, Solihull and Warwickshire Sports Awards with gongs for the top team and individuals while unsung heroes and volunteers will also be honoured.

The 2013 awards ceremony will be the ninth staging of the annual event and will take place at St John’s Hotel in Warwick Road, Solihull on Thursday, November 7.

The event is organised by Coventry University with support from a group of regional partners including BBC Coventry & Warwickshire, Coventry, Solihull and Warwickshire Sport, Coventry PE and School Sport, Nuneaton and Bedworth Leisure Trust and Coventry City Council.

The awards are designed to celebrate those who have made a tremendous contribution to sport in the region at any level as well as those who have achieved outstanding sporting success.

Tom Shakespeare is sports development officer at Coventry University and is looking forward to celebrating the region’s sporting prowess, including achievements from last year’s London 2012 Olympic Games. He said: “We have some fantastic sporting talent in this region, much of which was on display at last year’s Olympic Games and it is nice to bring everyone together to celebrate that.”

“However, we must always remember that even those elite athletes would not reach the levels they do without help from volunteers and unsung heroes at the grassroots – a fact highlighted at the Games.

“The CSW Sports Awards is all about paying tribute to those people too, recognising the sizable contribution they make to sport in the region.”

There are a number of sponsorship opportunities are available including the headline sponsor and the chance to support the individual award categories.

The window for nominations to be made closes on Wednesday, July 31. For a full list of categories and details of how to nominate please visit www.cswsportsawards.com. For details of available sponsorship packages please contact Tom Shakespeare on 02476 795979.
