A strong Half Crown team from Stockton faced up to an equally formidable team of International players from the Sports Bar PC, Baldock last Sunday in the quarter final of the competition to determine which club represents England in the 2011 European Cup. It was a tightly fought contest in which The Half Crown were defeated 4-1.
n The Annual West Midlands Inter Club competition was held at Stockton on Sunday, in very pleasant playing conditions. Five West Midlands clubs took part in a round robin of three pairs from each club.
The Half Crown achieved 10 wins from their 12 games thereby retaining the title that they have won for the past three years. Warwick were second with six wins, Coventry and Whitnash both had five wins and Solihull won just four games.
Two teams were unbeaten, both Half Crown pairs – Jerome Rousseau/Janet Kimpton with a +29 points difference and Ian Brittain/Garth Fletcher who had +25.
