Fourth seed in Under 14s tournament in Italy
Rugby’s star player Jake Hersey has qualified for a place in the Under 14 Tennis Europe Junior Masters in Reggio Calabria, Italy this weekend.
The Masters officially brings the season to an end and is devised to reward the best-performing players of the year on the Tour, with only the top eight highest ranked players qualifying to enter.
This fantastic achievement is excellent reward for his commitment to all aspects of training on court and in the gym, as well tournaments.
Jake, who is the only British player to qualify for the Masters this year, goes into the tournament seeded fourth and will face players from Russia, Germany, Serbia, Romania and Poland, so the event should be a great opportunity to test himself against the best in Europe in the U14 age group.
Jake said: “It will be tough as I don’t get a great deal of practice time on the red European clay compared to the other players, but I will have a day to practice before the event and I have the recent win in Belgium behind me which was on the same surface, so I will have a positive approach to play any opponent I may be drawn against and always give my best.”
Jake is grateful to Babolat, Tennis First and SportsAid for their support.
