TRIATHLON: News from Rugby Tri Club

Last weekend proved to be a very busy for Rugby Triathlon Club members with early season races on both the Saturday and Sunday.

Althorp Duathlon (Feb 25th)

This run, bike, run combination saw:

Tom Greeves achieve 3rd in the overall sprint race - 1hr 14mins 31secs

Anne Portsmouth sprint age group winner - 1hr 31mins 8secs

Jane Needham Olympic distance age group winner - 2hrs 51mins 3secs

Tony Johnson Olympic, second in age group - 2hrs 27mins 11secs

Belvoir Challenge, off road marathon in Leicestershire (Feb 25th)

Ross Wearing achieved 57th place (field of over 270 runners) in this 26-mile run in 4hrs 26mins 51secs. Ross (pictured) is undertaking a year of endurance activities on behalf of Macmillan Cancer Support. He has already completed an indoor rowing marathon in January and has more extreme events planned throughout the year.

Wellingborough Multi-Terrain (3) (Feb 26th)

With little time to rest, the last of these multi-terrain run races saw Jane Needham and Anne Portsmouth in action again.

10k: Anne Portsmouth 46mins 44secs

15k: Jane Needham 1hr 5mins 6secs, third in race and third over the series;

Peter Belfield 55mins 54secs and Mark Hazle 1hr 4mins 11secs

Halesowen Aquathlon (Feb 26th)

While this swim/run combination was a little cold for those in lycra it saw:

Christa Morris achieve 2nd in age group with a time of 32mins 46secs and Ann Marie Jackman attain 5th in age group in 36mins 52secs.

Hats off to Rugby Junior Tri Club member Skip Snelson who won his age group Tristar 1 category for 9 and 10 year olds by completing the 150m swim and 1500m the quickest.
