Children from Rugby Junior Triathlon Club gathered at The Old Laurentians RFC for a night of pizza, a disco and their annual awards to celebrate their achievements over the past year.

Following an inspirational talk by serial triathlete and dedicated fundraiser - Keith Edwards from the adult section of the club - the awards were presented to the children and coaches.

Awards included, best boy and girl in each age group and the Graham Emery Award for young triathlete’s who show good sportsmanship and who are good ambassadors for the sport; this year it was presented to Hannah Reynolds.

Junior coaches Georgina Austin, Hannah Cooper and Elliot Parsons, who completed their Level One in coaching triathlon received certificates. Best coach award was presented to James Glover for his dedication to The Club.

Triathlon is a sport that combines the three disciplines of swimming, cycling and running into one and when the children are not competing in the summertime they regularly train at Rugby School on Sunday afternoons.

If you are interested in taking part more information concerning the club’s adult and junior sections can be found at www.rugbytriathlon.org.uk. You can join in with the Junior Club at their Sunday training sessions at Rugby School and participate in any or all of the disciplines.
